What is the New Testament - Patterned Church
? Part 3
by Craig Harbin
1. It is
undenominational, that is , opposed to the present
state of sectarian Christianity because the body of Christ is to have no divisions (1 Corinthians
1:10).
2 It strives for all Christians
to come together by accepting only Scriptures, not
man-made traditions, as the rule of faith and practice (John 17:21-23)
3. It teaches that there
is only one faith, one body and one
church, therefore Christians should love each other and
work together (Ephesians 4:2-6; Matthew 16:18).
4. It believes that all
non-Scriptural names, titles and positions should be abandoned
and all believers be "Christians" only (Matthew
23:8-10; Acts 11:26; 1 Peter 4:16).
5. The
mission of the Church is made more convincing when
Christians are united. Sinners are more likely to have faith that Jesus was sent from heaven if Christians
speak with one voice (John17:21).
6. We consider all who
claim Jesus as Lord to be our brothers and sisters. However, there is a
better way than th present state of divided theology
and divided Christianity. WE ARE NOT THE ONLY CHRISTIANS, BUT WE ARE "CHRISTIANS" ONLY! (Romans
15:5-7)
